As most people are aware, the Covid-19 pandemic that is sweeping the world is redrawing just about every corner of the global social fabric. Lives everywhere are being re-shaped – employment industries are being entirely re-engineered as needs and situations change, and of course the live music and entertainment industry is one of the biggest casualties of the fallout, with thousands of premium, world-class talented individuals related to the entertainment industry everywhere struggling to keep a gig diary busy and keep mortgages paid. The struggle is real. Like every affected industry, we need to roll with the societal evolutions and governmental guidelines as they develop.

• Has COVID-19 stopped all live entertainment at present?

Not at all! In fact, Australia is still the envy of the world with not as many Covid cases registered in comparison to most other countries, so whilst this remains the case, we are fortunate that live bands are still popular and being booked as much as possible by the music-loving public, though it’s true not in the same numbers as pre-Covid. Whilst we have our towns and cities relatively free to still currently enjoy live music, we can keep booking our excellent live bands out for all weddings, corporate events, birthday parties and private celebrations. When governments make changes and enforce Covid lockdowns or restrictions, of course that changes temporarily. We’ll work with you to try and tweak settings to make sure we all comply with government regulations, but until we’re all told all live music is banned outright, we’ll always be able to come up with plans and solutions to keep things moving in the right direction. Ask us what we might be able to do for your wedding or corporate event – it is always possible to do something, even during times of restrictions.

• What are my entertainment options now during COVID-19?

Covid is certainly making life tricky for our industry, but as with any other time in organising live music for your event, details are always discussed between us first up anyway, so with Covid upon us, the initial discussion just goes a little differently now. Just get in touch with us to start off – as every event is unique, we’ll ascertain what you have and what you need, and apply that to your current governmental regulations around Covid in your area, then figure out what we can do to make sure you’re catered for. For example, if you’ve booked a great 6-piece live party band for the 100 guests at your wedding, but suddenly Council regulations change to only allowing say 30 people at the event, we can make sure the band drops to say the main frontline of three performers who can scale the show down to be fantastically bespoke and a much more intimate show for the smaller numbers, to enthral your guests and make sure the evening still generates gorgeous memories for you, irrespective of council-regulated changes. We’re creative – ask us what we can do – there’s always some way to put sparkle and pizazz into any event.

• Can I continue to book my favourite performers during COVID-19?

You bet! All of our acts are definitely fully available, and can always perform their main show, subject to whatever council guidelines for gatherings are in place at the time. Book in whichever live act you prefer, and as your big day approaches, we’re all good to go. If government or council regulations change, we’ll come up with a viable, reconfigured solution to make sure you still get a fantastic result. Times are definitely interesting at the moment – but we just problem solve, and keep rolling. The show must go on, after all!

• What are my expectations now if I book a band during COVID-19?

Simply book in whichever fantastic live entertainment band you prefer, and if your local government throws a spanner in the works at gig time, dictating that all public performances must cease in all forms, of course we’ll just re-schedule your date with you, or cancel your booking and refund your deposit if an alternative date doesn’t suit. This is based literally on governments changing the rules to tell us we can’t go ahead though – not just if you change your mind on proceeding with your event. All steps are taken by The Live Music Agency to make sure all the work we’ve done for you proceeds to the live event. But if council says it cannot proceed, as mentioned, the above scenario applies.

• Are these changes to my favourite bands permanent now?

Who can say? Hopefully not – we all hope things are just temporarily compromised whilst Covid-19 runs its organic course. As soon as the global pandemic subsides, hopefully all normalities will resume as they were pre-pandemic. Covid won’t last forever.
